Work, Happn and orange hair

Sooo, I promised an update about yesterday and here it is!

I got the great opportunity to do a job with a new app called Happn.

Let’s say you run into someone on the street or subway and you just think “Damn, he/she was hot! I wish I would’ve said something!”. Well, with this app you can. Happn allows two strangers to find each other again. Never miss another opportunity to meet the love of your life.

I think this is a great idea. Online and app dating is huge right now. As a matter of fact, that’s how I met my boyfriend, and now we’re living together and are about to spend our three year anniversary. Maybe one day I’ll tell the whole story about it because it is kinda cute.

I also went to my hairdresser. After a lot of thinking I have decided to go back to my natural hair color, or at least lighter. I love having dark hair but the roots are killing me and so is my wallet from all the money I’m spending running to the salon all the time. I started as a no 4 on the coloring scheme (really dark) and ended at a no 6. The end goal is to go one or steps lighter but there simply wasn’t time. It takes a lot of work to brighten up your hair I learned.

This is what it looks like after 20 minutes with bleach… Orange!

And this is the result! I think maybe next time I’ll do some highlights and/or toning to make it a little bit lighter and give it more “life”.

Today has been a busy day: I had a modelling job for a new app that’s being launched here in Scandinavia. I also got a new hair color! Right now I am so tired so I’ll do a proper update with photos tomorrow.

Fatty Tuesday

Today is something called “Fettisdagen”, or directly translated “Fatty Tuesday”. All you Swedes know what I’m talking about. This is almost like a holiday, and the tradition is to eat a Semla. It’s basically a bun stuffed with almond gooey and whip cream.

As a child I never understood this, almond? Cream? Nah. Not for me. I used to scrape it all off and just eat the bun. Today I realized I must be an adult, because I actually enjoyed my semla! If you want to be a real hard core semmel-eater you eat it with some hot milk in a bowl. Maybe I’ll try that next year.

My original plan was to bake my own buns and fill, but honestly I have been so extremely tired today I cheated and got this at the bakery. Sometimes you just gotta listen to you body and relax and eat some fatty creamy buns. After all, we only live once.

Sweet Dreams

Monday is starting to come to an end. I’ve spent my night on the couch, I’m so tired and I just wanna go to bed but it’s not even 9pm.

I have an old habit of planning the upcoming week and  set goals for what I want to achieve.  However, lately this habit has become less frequent. This is something I really wanna bring back because I believe it’s important in order to take control of your life and see that progress is being made.

I think it’s easier to start with the practical stuff:

  • What does my work schedule look like?
  • Do I have something special planned? For example hanging out with a friend, a meeting, an appointment, etc.
  • On what days am I gonna work out?

Then I think about my personal goals:

  • What do I want to focus on this week? For example: I want to eat more healthy- My goal is to eat healthy 3 times this week. Or I want to be more sociable- My goal is to ask a friend to hang out at least 2 times.
  • How will I achieve this? By setting clear goals like the examples above.

All of these questions are important to ask yourself to keep on developing. By looking back at the past week I can clearly see what went good and what I need to work more on. Then of course it’s important to have your long term goals in mind. It is by taking these small steps every day that will get you there in the end. Although I don’t think we will ever be satisfied, we just keep on setting new goals and moving the finishing line, but that’s a different story.

How was your day? What will your goals be for this week? Maybe you have a different routine?

#2 Turkey Sandwich Lunch

Sandwiches could be the best thing I know, I eat at least one a day. They’re just amazing and there’s endless possibilities. Today I made a simple turkey sandwich with some rye bread. Yum yum.

I used:

  • Rye bread
  • Cheese
  • Smoked turkey
  • Hard boiled egg
  • Lettuce
  • Cherry tomato

And of course a cup of coffee.

We have this amazing little thing to time the egg:

You just put it in the water with the egg(s) and the color will darken telling you when your egg is done. Today when I wanted it hard boiled I waited until the entire thing went dark and voilá, perfect!

It’s Monday But It’s Ok

Running jacket from Adidas by Stella McCartney

Yawn. New week and a new day. Monday have such a bad reputation that I feel sorry for it. Is there anyone who likes this day? The first day of the week, the first day of work and responsibilities, far away from Fun Friday.

I’m going to annoy you now by being positive. Sorry. If you are actually having a bad day, it’s OK, but if you’re blaming Monday, stop. Instead of seeing this as another week in hell let’s see it as an opportunity to start something new. Or maybe just see it as another day, like Tuesday or Wednesday. Why does Monday always have to be in charge of all the life changing decisions?

My Monday started out by the alarm clock going off way too early, but once I have my coffee I’m good to go. The sun is shining and I feel motivated and excited to kick- start this week!

#1 Glitter tip nail polish

First day of trying something new! For me it’s important to take care of my hands and nails, the hands are being used all the time. Literally all the time. I have painted my own nails with regular polish for a long time but it wasn’t until I got my first shellac done that I got hooked for real. Shellac is the best! To save money from going to expensive salons my beloved boyfriend actually got me an UV lamp and a set of Gel colors for Christmas last year. It has become an integral part of my monthly “beauty routine”. However, I still end up doing the same style over and over again, and that’s why I decided to take my nail skills to the next level.

That was easier said than done. I wanted to do a colorful pattern using tape.

After about an hour of prepping and trying it out I realized I need some better tools in order to use my Gel colors. Instead of giving up (believe me I wanted to) I decided to actually use my old regular polishes and do a simple, girly, glitterish look instead (result above).

What have I learned?

Research before starting a project- that would’ve saved me some time.

Don’t give up just because it didn’t work out the first time or went as planned- find a new way and do it again.

Maybe this wasn’t my best, but it was my first and everyone has to start somewhere!

This is what I used: OPI Natural Strengthener, OPI Nail Lacquer “Bubble Bath”, Essie Luxeffects “A cut above”, Sally Hansen No Chip top coat

Meet Bob

So I think I have to ease into this blogging thing. While I’m figuring out how I’m gonna go about this and where to actually start, lets just sit back and relax and look at this cutie. Meet Bob the French Bulldog. He is not mine. Unfortunately. I got the opportunity to meet this adorable little gentlemen today, and yes, I have a new crush.

Hello world!

Hi there,

Happy you found me.

This blog is mainly about me, Rosie, and my extremely fascinating life. Hm… Maybe not yet. I created this website in order to inspire myself and hopefully inspire some of you. The main goal is for me to get my ass off the couch and go out to adventure the world. I decided to document everything and make it official in order to put some pressure on myself.

Who am I?

If only I knew. This is a big part of why I started this project. I do know that I am 25 years old young, and I live in Sweden (where we ride polar bears to school and eat raw fish).

There’s probably a lot I could be writing here but it’s difficult. What is interesting to know? That I am goofy, dancing around when no one everyone is watching, or that I am a neat freak who loves vacuuming? That I love being creative, hate waiting for the bus, and can’t sit still for more than a couple of hours?

Nah. To be honest, all I want you to know is that I know what it feels like to hit rock bottom, but I also know how it feels to get back. I know what it feels like waking up in the morning and longing for night again. I know what it feels like to be a teenager or young adult and be lost. This is part of why I am creating this blog. The only way to find out who you are and what you like is to actually get out there and do it.

So let’s do it together.
