Review: Clinique Superbalanced Foundation

March 23, 2016

I couple of days ago I got some new makeup. I’ve been using Clinique’s foundation “Redness Solution”, but with my fair winter skin it’s too dark. So I mixed it with Bare Minerals foundation on top… Not the best solution let me tell you that. When the foundation from Clinique ran out, I decided to get a new one in the right tone.

Having dry skin, eczema, and some pimples on top of that doesn’t make it easy to find the right foundation. In a perfect world I would live in a sunny country walking around with no makeup every day, but unfortunately that’s not the case.

Since my skin is so sensitive I always get a couple of samples before I make the buy. This time I got samples from Armani, Lancome, and Clinique.

Here’s my review of the three different foundations:

  • The Armani “Luminous Silk” foundation

This is a very light foundation, and it really gives you a “silk” feeling. However, it was not good for my dry skin as it cracked and looked “patchy”.

  • Lancome “Teint Miracle” foundation

I’ve actually had this foundation a long time ago. It’s a little thicker in its texture compared to the Armani. However, I got an extremely burning/itching sensation and had to wash it off after less than five minutes. It had a strong smell, so maybe I’m allergic to the perfume.

  • Clinique “Superbalanced” foundation- WINNER

This was my favorite. It gives light cover and a glowing finish. It doesn’t crack or get stuck on my dry patches. Clinique is a great brand if you have sensitive skin because they don’t contain any perfume and are allergy tested.

I also purchased Clinique’s “All about eyes” concealer. This is a very thick, creamy concealer that offers maximum to medium cover. I prefer to blend it with the foundation or my face lotion to make it a little lighter. I noticed it has a tendency to make my skin look dry, but that’s easily avoided by mixing it. To make it last all day long, use a finishing powder and/or setting spray.

I’m wearing the foundation, mascara, and on my cheeks there’s a little bit of Bare Mineral’s bronzing powder in the color “The Deep End”.
