L.A is more popular than ever. I can see why: There’s so much to do and see in the city of
shattered dreams. I was there 1,5 years ago and stayed for 10 days, and I just wanna go back. There’s so much more I want to do! I had the privilege to go with someone who’s been growing up in L.A. and knew exactly where to go and how to get there. If I went alone, I would’ve been so lost.
L.A. is a special city. There’s no city center like in Stockholm or London. Everything is spread out, and there’s no such thing as “walking distance”. There’s basically no public transportation so you have to rent a car to get around. Since everyone’s driving the traffic is horrible. When taking certain highways during rush hour you have to count on spending a few hours in traffic. Planning your time is therefor important. Also, load up your phone with some good music or podcasts to listen to in the car.
I was gonna make a full travel guide, but I realized it’s just too much. So let’s start with the food.
Here’s the best food in L.A that you can’t miss:
The best food you’ll ever taste is in L.A. Regardless if you wanna be healthy and eat good vegan food, or try the most unhealthy American burgers ever, this is where you’ll find it. Let’s start with the fatty food. Before you go here, make sure to save some extra room in your belly. You’re gonna need it.
Order the burger, milkshake, and most importantly: Ask for the Animal Style Fries. They’re not on the menu. Enjoy!
I thought it was a joke at first. It literally looks like someone shit on this burger. However, it is probably the best chili burger you’ll ever have (and the only after you get a heart attack from the fat).
Look at the breakfast menu on the right….Only in the US.
Cupid’s Hot Dog
By the time we went here, I wasn’t surprised by the chili on top of the hot dog. Nothing could look as bad as the Tommy’s burger… This place has been open since the 50’s and it looks pretty much the same today. It’s awesome.
The Cheesecake Factory
Yes, this is a very touristy place, but they still have the best cheesecake you’ll ever taste. The menu is huge. If you’re eating food here make sure to share one meal, because the portions are huge as well. We went with the Lemon Meringue Cheesecake (we shared and could still not finish it…).
There’s only thing on the menu you have to eat here: The lettuce wraps. Where can I find this in Stockholm?
Cupid’s Hotdog, The Cheesecake Factory, and PF Chang’s
International House of Pancakes. This might not be the best pancakes you’ve ever tried, but it’s a classic.
This is the best breakfast you’ll ever have. After eating a real bagel, you’ll never go back to the Swedish one’s . The classic lox bagel is my favorite.
For the vegan (and everyone else): Garden Wok
Located on a corner in Tarzana you’ll find the best vegan chinese food ever. They have “chicken” wings that has the texture of real chicken! Delicious beyond imagination. The restaurant may not look like much, but don’t be alarmed. The food is so yummy you want to come back every night.
With that said, L.A is freaking awesome. It’s not for everyone, but I loved it there. It may not be a place where I would wanna live and raise any potential children, but going there on a longer vacation- YES.
Stay tuned for the next part of my L.A guide!
